Nate and Melody Grav
Music Co-Directors
Nathan Grav is the current Music Educator at Colleton County Middle School, where he is blessed to encourage young people to discover their passion for music, build confidence, and
recognize the gifts that God has given them. Nathan is an alumnus of Charleston Southern University, where he was actively involved in choir, band, musical theater, and opera. His time at CSU strengthened his passion for music and the arts, while also deepening his relationship with Christ and his desire to serve others through music. Nathan believes that music is a way to draw
us closer to God while creating a space where everyone can come together in fellowship and worship. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve Bethel United Methodist Church as
Co-Director of Choir and is excited to use his gifts to serve the church, encourage its members, and help lead the church family into a changing future.
Melody Grav is an alumna of Charleston Southern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Choral Music Education. Born and raised in Summerville, SC, Melody has developed a deep passion for choral music and using her gifts to serve others. She is a soprano and has studied under Dr. Jennifer Luiken of CSU and Dr. Rob Taylor of the College of Charleston. Melody has performed with a variety of choral ensembles, including the TFC, CSO Choirs, and SO Choir, and has been featured as a soloist with the Holy City Consort in performances in Paris, France, and Kerkrade, Netherlands. She currently serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Colleton County High School. Melody is grateful for the opportunity to serve Bethel United Methodist Church as Co-Director of Choir. She is excited to share her love of music, encourage others through song, and use her gifts to help create meaningful opportunities for
worship, fellowship, and connection within the church family.
MaryWynn Chamblin
Financial Secretary and Accompanist
Bethel has been a part of MaryWynn's life since she started going to Sunday School when she was five years old. She sang in the choir under D.M. Buckner and was actively involved in MYF.
MaryWynn started taking piano lessons at age seven under Beryl Fishburne and later "graduated" to D.M. Buckner. She continued piano lessons at Columbia College and graduated in 1980 with a BA in Special Education and a minor in both elementary education and music.
Her hobbies include reading, playing piano, traveling, genealogy research, writing, and spending time with her husband, Chris, family, and furbabies. She is blessed with four wonderful adult children, Gini, Alyssa, Margaret, and John. She also has six amazing grandchildren, Aidyn, Kayson, Lyla, Maddox, Manning, and Palmer.
Willie Lawery
Custodian
Willie was born in Columbia, Mississippi. He previously worked in the Plaza Hotel in New York City. He joined the staff at Bethel on January 1, 2020. Willie says that when he came to work here, "God really worked it out for him."
Willie enjoys reading in his spare time. He has ten siblings, one daughter, and two grandchildren.
Austin Williams
Organist
Austin is a lifelong resident of Colleton County. He graduated from Walterboro High School and attended Charleston Southern University and the University of South Carolina. Austin grew up in the church where he discovered his love for traditional music at a young age.
Austin’s hobbies include spending time with family and friends, fishing, listening to music and reading. He and his wife, Jessica, have a daughter, Charlotte. He joined the staff at Bethel United Methodist Church in November 2021.
